Partying until “The Drop” on New Year’s Eve

For a number of years, Detroit has celebrated New Year’s Eve with a downtown ball drop, most notably in Beacon Park. However, the event was canceled last year and is not scheduled to take place this year.

Resolution Ball

The New Year’s Eve Detroit Resolution Ball at The Masonic is one of the biggest events in town, and it has become something of a Detroit tradition over the years. This event is always a hit with guests thanks to the fantastic entertainment, which includes a balloon drop and confetti storm, as well as performances by illusionists, stilt walkers, live music provided by a DJ on site, and a delicious midnight buffet. There are even giant displays set up so you can see the ball drop in real-time from Times Square. Tickets are now available online if you’d like to secure your spot at this event before it sells out.

Countdown to the New Year 5K

People in Detroit have been running around Belle Isle in celebration of the New Year for decades. However, there are concerns about the race’s finances, so stay tuned to the official site for the latest developments; online registration is available there as well.

Detroit New Year’s Eve Fireworks

If you want to see the big fireworks show at midnight on New Year’s Eve and don’t mind traveling a little ways out of town, you can go to Downtown Mount Clemens for their annual New Year’s Eve Gala, which begins at 9:30 p.m. On Main Street at New Street and is essentially a mini version of the Times Square ball drop party.
